Doyle Brunson Bio Arrives

It’s been in the works for a while, and now the book about poker’s legendary Doyle “Texas Dolly” Brunson has arrived at Gamblers Book Shop. The retail price is $26.95 but our price is $20.91 online, in the store or over the phone!
Gotta warn buyers — the book has a rough trim which looks like it’s defective but that’s the way the publisher wanted it. (They used to trim books like this way back when they didn’t have automatic slicers.) If too many people complain, maybe they’ll undo that fashionable and trendy cut in subsequent print runs.
The book has an extensive index for those who want to know if they’re mentioned but the meat of the book isn’t the index. It’s the harrowing escape from angry players, from folks bent on taking chips at gunpoint; it’s the deep sadness from losing a first-born; it’s the exhilaration of winning consecutive championship titles.
Brunson’s journey from back roads gambler to respected and revered celebrity of modern poker is a great read for those who have known him; it’s an even greater read for those who have only met him in recent years or who have just seen him on TV.
His peers will recognize the atmosphere; younger player will get an in-your-face look at what the life of a gambler used to be.
